Within the last week, we have been to two Golden Anniversary receptions for two super couples.
Fifty years ago, I enjoyed being a part of my cousin Alene’s wedding. Her marriage to David was exciting. Aunt Lois made – yes, made by hand – Alene’s beautiful wedding dress. The bead work took hours and hours to complete. Everyone was so impressed. It even made news, complete with pictures, in the Lubbock Avalanche Journal. Now Lubbock was not that small of a town, and it was something to see a picture of Aunt Lois and the wedding dress in the paper.
Alene still has her dress, and it was on display at the reception. Be still my heart. See how small Alene was. Wow!
Throughout the years, there have been several young people who have called David and Alene Mom and Dad. David and Alene have always been available to minister to individuals and couples who need love and support. Some of these friends gave the Golden Anniversary reception. What a wonderful honor.
David assembled pictures for a slide show presentation. What fun to see their journey through pictures. They even selected favorite scriptures to share. Very nice.
I love, love, love this picture of Alene. I can still remember seeing it in Aunt Lois and Uncle Raymon’s home.
The wedding picture is wonderful. The cake topper has even survived fifty years.
I guess this would be an after picture. This picture was taken at the reception. David and Alene have always been a happy couple who loved and supported and each other. Most importantly, they have loved the Lord and served him gladly.
Happy Golden Anniversary!
Blessings to you and yours,
