The Living Stones wanted the retirement reception for Candy to have the feel of a “proper” reception. With this in mind, we decided to walk around with the hors d’oeuvres on trays and serve them to the guests.
Each member of the class donned black aprons over their black pants and white or black tops.
With the decorations in place, we enjoyed visiting for a few minutes before the party began.
Then Candy, our guest of honor, arrived. (I must say that some of the Men’s Class helped us greatly.)
Candy was pleased and excited. That made our day.
Now we were ready to begin.
Silver chargers lined with doilies and clear plates were used as trays.
Small Cream Puffs were filled with Janet’s Hawaiian Chicken Salad. Sweet Mother of Pearl. These are so easy to make and very impressive. The Hawaiian Chicken Salad is one of the best chicken salads I have ever eaten. The addition of pineapple puts this chicken salad over the top.
Apricots and dried mangos dipped in chocolate filled other trays.
Stuffed dates were also passed.
Cucumber Cups are easy to make by using a melon baller to make indentions in the slices of cucumbers. They can be filled with so many different things. On this day they were filled with pimento cheese.
Judy T. pinwheels were oh so tasty with a filling that included cranberries. Yummy!
The Fig and Blue Cheese Savouries are delicious. The tartness of the blue cheese is complimented by the sweetness of the fig preserves.
Servers manned their stations.
And others began passing the hors d’oeuvres.
Serving others in honor of Candy provided us with such joy.
Blessings to you and yours,
