Miss Jane mentioned that the iris in her garden were blooming.  I knew it was time for a look-see.

This garden is always beyond wonderful.  Not only were the iris blooming, but there were also roses, bluebonnets, columbine, and many others plants.  The love and care she puts into creating a lovely environment inspires everyone.

Miss Jane collects plants.   Other people might collect tea cups, dolls, or _______ (you fill in the blank), but in her garden is a  collection of different varieties of plants.  Each plant is carefully chosen for different reasons – texture, color, types of blooms, etc.

There are many different types of iris blooming in her garden.  The delicate pink color of this one is so pretty.

This is a bearded iris with a large white blossom.   That extra petal in the middle is why it is called a bearded iris.  Beautiful!

The variation of colors on this bloom is amazing.

The soft apricot hues on this flower melt my heart.

Just look at the vibrant color of this blue iris.  Wow!

In another section of the garden is this deep violet specimen.  Can you see the red center?  I like it.  I love it.

The pale purple outer petals surrounding the white center petals make for a lovely flower.

Shades of purple are everywhere. Are you beginning to understand what I mean about Miss Jane being a collector of plants.

Little delicate white iris bloom abundantly.  This little bottle tree is a found branch that Miss Jane put in the ground.

In this close-up picture of the little white blooms, you can see the yellow accents.

As I said, other plants were also in bloom in her spring garden.  It was getting late, and the bright red poppy was ready to close and go to bed for the night.  The black and white center of this poppy is so striking .

The view from the patio is gorgeous.

White clematis climb a trellis on the brick wall.

The first roses of spring are impressive.  The variation of colors on this rose astound me.

I believe this is called Belinda’s Dream.  It is filled with a bazillion petals and is a dream rose.  Miss Jane told me about this rose, and we bought one for our yard.  It is one of my favorites.

A creeping rose fills this bed.  Look how Miss Jane used an old metal headboard for a garden accent.

Be still my heart.  This antique rose has the most unusual petals. The centers of the petals are white, and the edges are a beautiful pink/red.  Again, this is a collection of different colors and textures to make an interesting garden.

This white rose is prolific.  Notice how many buds are on this bush.

Beds are filled with native plants and perennials.  Water wise plantings can be beautiful.

Miss Jane is the only person I know who has bluebonnets growing in her yard.  One year Friend BB’s mother-in-law gave everyone in the Living Stones Bible Class bluebonnet seeds.  Wouldn’t you know that Miss Jane’s were the only ones to bloom.  It thrills my heart each year when I see them, and it reminds me of Sherman.

Different textures and colors fill the beds.  What a wonderful collection.

How fascinating are the petals on this yellow flower.  The closer I look at the plants in the garden the more enthralled I become.

Miss Jane laid all the brick walkways and created the beds herself.  She is amazing.  Sweet Mother of Pearl.  I love this bench.  She sat a “found” iron piece on the back.  When I mentioned it, she remarked, “I never throw anything away.”  It certainly makes her garden a delight to explore.

In the urn by her back door, stands a new little elf.  She makes me smile.

Fairy lights are my new most favorite thing – to add to my long list of favorite things.   As I was walking to the car, guess what Miss Jane had – fairy lights.   What a special touch to a beautiful garden.
