Electric energy filled the room. When ten cream-of-the-crop teachers, their principals, their families, their friends, and not to mention big wigs like the Richardson Independent Superintendents and school board members got together, the room was super charged. For the past three years, our Beta Chi chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa has honored the teachers that have been selected as STARS (Superior Teaching Achievement in RISD) Teachers. These are ten teachers that represent the best of the best in Richardson ISD for that year. To honor these teachers, we host a reception. On a Friday, the winners were announced. The reception was held the next Wednesday. It was the first opportunity for this year’s group of winners to celebrate.
The reception is held in the foyer of the Administrative Building. It is a pretty setting. I love that Richardson continues to use this building. On the menu (for those of you who like to know) was: pimento cheese sandwiches, chicken salad croissants, strawberries with a delicious dip, other fruits, and cookies. On another table, there was punch. The flowers were beautiful.
I liked the fact that Martha made star cookies to honor the STARS.
This was wonderful. A parent nominated this teacher.
As you can tell, there were no shortage of smiles. I think the happy attitudes of these teachers contribute to their success.
The winners were able to meet and visit with other winners.
Paula and Jenny our president presented certificates to each winner to congratulate them. Kay on the right is always full of energy. She chairs the STARS search team each year.
The winners and their principals pose for a group picture. It is a good looking group, and this group is so diverse. Here is a link to the RISD Spotlight page that highlights the teachers as they are notified that they won. Other RISD accomplishments are also on this short video.
It is so much fun to be a part of this reception. To know that these ten teachers are but representatives of the faithful, excellent teaching that is happening in the Richardson schools on a daily basis just warms my heart.
Blessings to you and yours,
FYI: Alpha Delta Kappa is an honorary sorority for women educators.
