Several (at least three) readers of this blog have mentioned that they do not think I have written much about our new granddaughter whom I affectionally call Pretty Baby. Honestly, at times she can look just like the Gerber baby. (Grandmother talking here – sorry.)
Today was a special day. It was the day we began keeping Pretty Baby because Momma Jenny had to go back to work. To say that we have been somewhat apprehensive is an understatement. It has been a while since we have had a baby in the house, and when we kept her once before, I sort of got in trouble – I let her sleep too long. In my day, we didn’t wake sleeping babies. Now, it is considered important to keep babies on a schedule, and at this age, they should be fed every three to four hours. I felt terrible. Even Nurse Nicki said I would have been in trouble with her for doing that. Okay. I think I have learned my lesson. Today, we stayed on schedule. Yea!
Momma Jenny brought us this bouncer seat, and Pretty baby enjoyed sitting in it.
She could bat the toys, and she LOVED when the seat vibrated.
Tummy Time is another new to me part of the daily schedule. For fifteen minutes each day, Pretty Baby is to be on her stomach. While on her stomach she can push up and strengthen her arms and legs. This is not her favorite time of the day, but she did it.
To our delight, the day went very well. I was shocked that Pretty Baby did not sleep as much as I expected her to sleep. Of course we did not get much done around the house while Pretty Baby was here. We held her, we fed her, we changed her diaper, and we sat and stare while oohing and ahhing at every move and sound she made.
It was a good day.
Blessings to you and yours,
Today I could not help but think of this verse:
Psalm 127:3
Children are a blessing.
and a gift from the Lord.
And a huge responsibility I might add.
