Super Sister’s Photograph

Sometimes fact is stranger than fiction.  The story I am about to tell you is amazing.

Super Sister moved to Austin the year before she turned 50 – Yes, that would have made her 49 years young.  After she moved to the Austin area, she began teaching at a local private school.  I tell you this so you will understand that the people involved in this story had not known Super Sister very long.  She was the new kid on the block.

On her 50th birthday, two of the secretaries gave her a birthday card.  They said, “When we saw this card, we just knew that the picture of this precious girl had to have been a picture of you as a child.  Did you know that they were using your picture on birthday cards?”

Super Sister could not believe what she saw.  No, it was not a picture of her, but…  She did have something to show them.

(Twilight Zone music) This is the photograph Super Sister took to school the next day.  It is a picture of Super Sister as a child.

Can you believe how much they look alike? – Blue dress, red hair, bangs, curls on each side of their heads, gaps in their teeth, rosy cheeks, the eyes, the mouth….  Unbelievable!  And the secretaries were right.  This card could easily have been a picture of Super Sister.

Super Sister had the picture and the birthday card framed together, and now they hang on the wall in her room.  It looks so good, and the story is amazing.  I like it.  I love it.

Super Sister has always been cute and pretty – she could have easily been featured on birthday cards.  She is also a wonderful sister to me, and I am so thankful for her.

May you be so blessed.

Blessings to you and yours,

A side note:  In small towns such as Andrews during the 1950’s, traveling photographers would come through town and set up their “studio” at a local motel.  That is probably where this picture was taken.
