Ben Franklin – Stephenville, Texas

Do you remember the Ben Franklin stores?  Back when, they were a type of five and dime variety store.  Then some of them changed, and many of them closed.  If my memory is correct, Michael’s (MJ Designs) began as a Ben Franklin store.  This said – There is still a Ben Franklin Store in Stephenville, Texas, and it is a art gallery, frame shop and gift store all in one.  I guess the store also still carries a few  supplies for arts and crafts.

You will find this Ben Franklin Store on the courthouse square.  ( The Erath County Courthouse in Stephenville is a sight to behold.)

The Stephenville Ben Franklin Store has been there forever and a day, and our family has enjoyed shopping there all these many years.

The front of the store was filled with displays of fall decor.  DSC_5001

Be still my heart.  I do love these metal pumpkins.

Halloween merchandise was colorful and fun, and I really liked their selection of fall wreaths.  (I liked the wreaths so much that I had to bring one home with me.)

They have beautiful merchandise – small tables, trunks, frames, silk flowers, and wall art. (List certainly not inclusive!)  On the other side of the store they sell quality prints and have a framing shop.

It is a most unusual store.  You can find major name brands like Arthur Court,

As well as fun collectibles such as these “Hot Diggity” wiener dogs.  There is something for everyone.

A humongous selection of enamelware can always be found at the Stephenville Ben Franklin Store.  True story – I know people who  have made the two hour plus drive to Stephenville just to buy a special piece of graniteware at the Stephenville Ben Franklin Store. (And it wasn’t me.)

BUT….  Drum Roll Please!  One of the main reason I love, love, love, this Ben Franklin Store is that they continue to carry Mother’s cookbook A+ in Cooking.  When I saw it on the shelf, my heart skipped a beat.  They say it still is a good seller for them.

Super Sister found this fall wreath for Aunt Lois’ door.  Sweet Mother of Pearl.  I like it.  I love it.  The thick twigs, pumpkins, gourds, and fall leaves make this wreath different and impressive.  It looked great on her door.

Going to Stephenville is always a treat especially when we get to shop Ben Franklin.  If you go to Stephenville, Texas, do go.  You will not be sorry.
