“1000 bottles of polish on the wall. 1000 bottles of polish. Take one down – ???? – 1000 bottles of polish on the wall.” (The connection is weak, but that is how I feel when I have to select nail polish.) There are so many choices.
I walk into the nail salon, and then I hear, “You choose color.” Oh, how I hate to hear that. I admit it. I am intimidated by having to choose a nail color. (Second only to having to choose paint colors – another blog.) There are so many choices, and the color you see in the bottle is not necessarily the color you will see on your nails.
Many times, Daisy (The sweet smart lady that does my nails.) will look at my selection and say, “No, no good. What you want?” I tell her, and she goes and picks just what I had in mind. How does she do that?
But this week, I actually chose the color. – Okay, I tried five different colors on my thumbnail, until I found one I liked. School has started, and fall can not be far away. I wanted a color with a hint of autumn – orangy red and I like shimmery.
It is from the James Bond Collection (How fun to think I am a Bond girl – Oh my, I am loosing it.), This color is called – Die Another Day. That is good because if you think about it. That means – live today. (Names of different nail polishes are very important.) Oh, baby. I am ready for fall! ( Please have pity on the foot. It is old and well used.)
Then I began asking my friends about their nail polish choices. Mrs. Ralph always wears the same color on both her hands and her toes. She has been wearing the same color Cajun Shrimp for years, but recently discovered that her nail lady had changed her color. It is a slightly different color called Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It. I guess one day she was out of Cajun Shrimp and changed to Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It.
This is so cool. If you go to Opi.com, you can virtually try on the nail colors. (Not all colors are there.) You just click on the “Try on This Color” tab and then search for the colors by name or categories. You can see how the polish will look on your nails. You even get to select your skin tone. Now I can “try” on the polish before I go.
Friend BB tried a new color this week. It is also a color for fall called Bogota Blackberry. It is described as a “berry deep, dark wine shade.” So pretty.
The Queen of Everything is wearing Chick Flick Cherry – “the perfect red accent.”
Sweet Mother of Pearl. Is this color not wonderful? Sweet Erin from Virginia sent this picture of her toes. This color is called Pompeii Purple – “a deep dark crimson erupting in purple”. I like. it. I love it. Shoes are cute also.
What are some of your favorite colors?
Blessings to you and yours,
Wouldn’t it be fun to get to name fingernail polish colors. The names are so clever.
