Home tours are one of my favorite things.  Homes are like fingerprints.  They are unique and individual.  (Come to think of it, sometimes I see homes that remind me of model homes or furniture store displays with no personality of the owners.  Oh, they are pretty, but….)

That is not the case with Jorene’s home.  I so love Jorene’s home.  It is a farm house in the country outside Weatherford, Texas.

Not only is her home charming and comfortable, but she also has a million dollar view.  I like it.  I love it.  I could sit in that swing and  look at those rolling hills all day long – Well, until it would get too hot, and then I would go inside to the air-conditioned sunporch and gaze at those hills.  Life would be good.

On the front of the house is a wrap-around porch that Husband Larry built.  This addition really dressed up the front of the house.

This might be the largest rocking horse I have ever seen.  I think it is fantastic because older children can also ride it.  Jorene mentioned that the top porch rail is handy because it is just the right height for people to sit.    I want to remember that.

Then we moved inside to the sunporch.  Be still my heart!  As Larry said, “This is the best of both worlds.”  You feel like you are on a porch overlooking the rolling hills, but you are also inside with the air-conditioning.  Once this area was a screened-in porch, but now it is enclosed.  We had morning coffee here.  Divine!  Jorene often sits out here to read.

Jorene’s home is filled with antiques and vintage pieces.  Everything goes together.

Sweet Mother of Pearl.  How wonderful are the paintings done by Jorene’s mother that hang over the piano.  These paintings are the first things you see as you walk through the front door.

I wonder how a little lady in dry, arid Andrews, Texas knew about painting bluebonnets in the Texas Hill Country.  I do love that picture and I did love Jorene’s mother.

The breakfast room takes my breath away.  The antique square oak table is flanked by pressed back chairs that are the most wonderful blue/grey color.  The stained glass windows really set this room apart.

Jorene is able to get so much furniture into each room.  Amazing – and it looks so good!  In this corner is a lovely oak chest.

On the other side of the door is a secretary with leaded and stained glass doors.  The oil lamp collection looks good.

I am here to tell you.  This room could be in a movie. – wallpapered walls, iron bed, white summer covers on the bed, antique rocking chair, and stained glass in the window.  Good looking!

The brass bed in their bedroom is fantastic.  Love the pillow choices.

Look at this.  It is beyond clever.   You can see the wall of family pictures in this antique mirror that hangs in the hall.

Upstairs is an attic room that was once daughter Wendy’s room.  It is like a dollhouse.

Unbelievable.  In the utility room there are three cabinets or shelves, an antique round table, the washer and dryer plus more.  This room is filled with collectibles.

Sweet precious Wendy painted this shelving.  She’s got talent.  It was great visiting with Wendy at lunch.

At every turn are creative touches.  This antique frame hangs by the back door, and it is wonderful.

Thank you Jorene for letting us tour your home.  It is not shabby, but it is chic!
