Bambu  – The Thai-Asian restaurant in Richardson, Texas has gotten some good press.  Dallas Morning News selected it to be in its Top 100 D-FW Restaurants.  I decided we needed to see and taste for ourselves.

Inside there are copies of their rave reviews from the Dallas Morning News, and the Observer.  It is a good thing that they are getting the recognition they deserve.

Bambu is located on the back side of the building at the south-east corner of Campbell and Coit roads in Richardson.  It was a little hard to find, but I am glad we did.

Bambu is a casual restaurant that was filled to capacity when we arrived.  You could tell it was the lunch crowd, so I think the word is getting around about this restaurant that serves fresh tasting Thai-Asian food.  Our table was graced with this small succulent,

But other tables had these bright orange sunflowers gracing their tables.

For an appetizer, we tried the Crispy Corn Patties.  They were good, but different than I expected – but honestly, I can not tell you what I expected. The sauce that was served with the corn patties, was delicious.  There were cucumbers in the sauce, and it was vinegary with a touch of sweetness.  Yummy!

Vegetable soup (which was mainly carrots) was served with lunch.  How can something this clear have so much flavor?  I do not know.

I know, this is a wimpy choice – Cashew Chicken-, but I thought it would help me compare.  And the waiter suggested it.  Maybe he profiled us.  We ask for “not too spicy” because Thai food can be very spicy.  I wish it had been a little spicier, but I will know better how to order next time.  It was served with jasmine rice.

Pad Thai with Chicken was Ever-Lovin’s choice.  He did good.  The menu gives this description:  “Stir fried thin rice noodles with egg and scallion in sweet and tangy tamarind sauce; topped with bean sprout and crushed peanut.”

You need to know this.  By the bar is a menu board with the daily specials.  We did not know this, and I think these are some of their specialties.  Just thought you should know.

Restaurant t-shirts are very interesting.  I love the Bambu shirts – “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”  Isn’t that wonderful?  May you always dine well.

Blessings to you and yours,
