English Gates and Doors

I am fascinated with gates and doors.  Just imagine all that has transpired behind these “closed doors”. (As Charlie Rich would say.)

What splendor – the gates to Buckingham Palace.  These gates are so massive and beautiful.

Then there were these gates to the Palace Gardens.  Be still my heart.  How wonderful!

Monogramed locks.  They took my breath away.

At another royal residence – Kingsington Palace – the archway in the Orangery is beautiful.  Kings, queens, princes, and princesses have dined here.

This ancient arch at the Glastonbury Abbey depicts the entire Biblical story.  Amazing!

The Glastonbury Abbey was once the “grandest and richest” abbey in all England.  The website calls these “romantic ruins”.  I like that.

Then there were these gorgeous heavily carved wooden doors.

This is another old door I think is beautiful.

The ironwork is truly a work of art.

Sweet Mother of Pearl.  This door reminds me of so many doors I have seen in the movies.

Wow!  Doors with metal studs.

And another door with more studs.  It is hard to imagine how old these doors are.

I know there are stories to tell from behind each “closed door”.  My imagination is running wild.

Blessings to you and yours.

There aren’t many gates and doors like these in Dallas, Texas.   If you know of some, let me know.  I would like to take pictures.
