Finally a dry, warm, sunny day. Ever-Lovin’ and I wanted to see Dallas Blooms while there were still blooms to be seen. Let it be known. The gardens are gorgeous, and there is plenty to see. (The Arboretum is always beautiful – in any season.) See what greeted us even before we entered the gardens. These are huge blooms and ever so gorgeous. Be still my heart. Just look at these vibrant azaleas. Can you believe? The tulips are still in bloom. It is so much fun watching the children play on the lawn. They run. They squeal. They roll in the grass. This is how childhood should be. More azaleas. They are pretty, but not as full as I have seen them in the past. Still they are breathtaking. Ever-Lovin’ and I do not remember this statue. We wondered if she is new? She is a pretty little thing. I never tire of looking through the gardens and seeing White Rock Lake. One of my favorite areas of the Arboretum is the Nancy Rutchik Red Maple Rill. This area open last October, but it seems as if it has been here forever. Along the path and stone bridge is a creek with waterfalls that flow into a pond. The Red Maple garden showcases a fabulous collection of over 80 varieties of 200 Japanese maples (There are 120 varieties of maples in the Arboretum’s collection). This area is a ” beautiful serene oasis” in the Arboretum. (Information is from the Dallas Arboretum website and brochure.) During Dallas Blooms, 500,000 tulips are on spectacular display. I think you would have to go to Holland to see more.
I thought this tree might be a cherry blossom tree, but I really do not know. I do know that it is beautiful. Love the full blooms. I wondered if we would be able to see the cherry blossoms at the Arboretum. (Once we went to Washington D.C. because I wanted to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival and see the cherry blossoms, but there were few cherry blossoms to see. They bloomed early that year. You can not predict nature, but still I was disappointed.) A Hanami (Cherry Blossom Viewing) was held at the Dallas Arboretum on March 17, but since our weather has not been overly spring like, I was hoping the cherry blossoms were still in bloom. Be still my heart. They are beautiful. We enjoyed lunch at the Restaurant DeGolyer. Life doesn’t get much better than this. Just imagine sitting on the terrace overlooking the gardens and White Rock Lake, being serenaded by live music, eating delicious food, and being with the love of your life. Talk about being blessed.
Blessings to you and yours,
Remember: Family memberships are a great bargain. For $125.00 you and five family members or friends can visit the gardens as many times as you wish – all year long.
