At the intersection of Greenville Avenue and Spring Valley Road in Richardson is an area called Brick Row. Nearby is the Dart Rail station. For sometime, we had noticed Sababa and wondered about the new restaurant in the neighborhood. Ever-Lovin’ and I had put Sababa on our “Want to Do” list. Then, Miss Jane and John beat us to the punch. One Sunday they mentioned that they had visited Sababa’s and they declared it “very good”. If Miss Jane says a restaurant is good, I believe her.
At the first opportunity, I called a couple of friends (Marsha Christmas and a friend who does not want to be named), and we visited Sababa. I am here to tell you – Miss Jane was right. The food at Sababa was delicious.
Monday – Friday from 11-3 the lunch buffet is served. The price includes your drink.
When I found out that lunch was a buffet, I almost didn’t visit Sababa.
I am so glad I did not change my mind, because Sababa’s buffet is filled with fresh tasty dishes. There were many choices.
I hate to admit this, but this was my first plate. I loved the salad choices, hummus, and baba ghannouj (That is how it is spelled on the menu.) The tabouli was heavy on the parsley, and that is the way I like it. Now, I do not know the names of all the dishes, but everything we ate was fresh tasting and delicious. We also really enjoyed the tomato soup which was served on this day.
There were plenty of choices other than the salads. The fried cauliflower received rave reviews at our table.
Sababa is clean and the decor is restful. By the time we left, this room was filled with patrons. I think word has spread about the delicious affordable food that Sababa’s offers.
Before we left, Akram, the friendly owner of Sababa, visited our table. He told us that Sababa means “cool”. Well, I do believe this is one “cool” Mediterranean restaurant, and I am so glad it is in the neighborhood.
Blessings to you and yours,
After we left Sababa, we drove around the neighborhood. Was I ever surprised! The park in the center of Brick Row is gorgeous.
When we first moved to Richardson, we lived in the apartments that were in this area. There is a spring here where the Tajas indians camped. It does my heart good to see the area so attractive.
