Marge is such a special friend. Ask anyone who knows her, and they all will say that she is amazing. We shared a room while we taught at Wallace, and it is always a special treat to get together with her. She is a beautiful, classy lady, and I learned so much from her.
It had been too long since we had been together, and I was looking forward to visiting with her over lunch. Marge suggested we go to Kathy’s Choice. I knew this tea room had opened in the Dal Rich Shopping (Beltline and Coit), but I had never been there. It is in the northwest corner where Mary Ellen’s Tea Room was located.
The courtyard patio is lush. It would be a perfect place to dine if West Nile were not flying in the neighborhood.
As we walked into the tea room, I was shocked. The restaurant has been completely updated, and it was impressive. The grey walls and trendy sconces in no way resemble the country tea rooms of the 1980’s.
We wanted to sit by the fireplace, but it had been reserved.
This pretty area can be reserved for special occasions. I liked it. I loved it.
Kathy’s Choice is primarily a highly respected catering company. One wall is filled with pictures of the rich and famous who appreciate her work.
Lunch was typical tea room fare – salads, sandwiches, and a few entrées. We each had a salad trio – chicken salad, raspberry pretzel salad, and pasta salad. There were several other choices, but we are rather creatures of habit. By the way – Our meal was so delicious.
I so want to give a shout-out to their fruity tea (I believe it had a hint of passion fruit). Just thought you should know.
As we were leaving, we passed the bakery case. Sweet Mother of Pearl. Those cupcakes look divine!
In my head, I am already planning a gathering at Kathy’s Choice. They are open for lunch from 10:30 – 2:00 Tuesday – Saturday, but other times can be arranged.
Of course, the very best part of our lunch was getting to visit with Marge. What a blessing. We talked non-stop while trying to catch up on all our news.
Blessings to you and yours,
