Ambassador Volunteers at DFW

What I am about to share is not life shattering. (Come to think of it – Nothing I share is life shattering news.)   But…It is always amazing to me when I learn something, and that is exactly what happened while recently standing in the line to go through security at DFW airport.

DFW

As I was standing in the SLOW moving line, I looked over and across the way there was the cutest couple wearing cowboy hats.  They were standing at an Information stand.  I have Trusty Camera, and says I to myself, “They are so cute.  I sure would like to take their picture.”

“Do you mind if I take your picture?”

“No, that will be fine.”

So then they proceed to get arranged and pose for me to take their picture.

Are they not the cutest couple?

Then—

They walked over to talk to us, and that is when I learned something.  (Learning something new is one of life’s greatest pleasures.)

We mentioned to this charming couple that they certainly were decorated with all the pins and buttons on their lapels.

Do you know why they have so many pins and buttons?  They have earned so many honors because  have been Ambassador Volunteers at DFW for the past 13 (??) years.  They gave us their Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport business card, and we learned that their names are Bud and Jan Pitts.

Here is what I learned:

There are 700 people who volunteer at DFW as Ambassador Volunteers.  Seven-hundred – That is a lot of people giving of their time to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  When visitors arrive, many times they need help, and these wonderful people are there to help.

The Pitts volunteer for four hours one day a week.  They are friendly, knowledgeable, and pleased to help.  You can tell they enjoy meeting and helping people.  How fortunate we are to have friendly people like the Pitts to welcome and aid visitors to our area.  What fine ambassadors they are.

These volunteers could be the first impression visitors have of our beloved cities.  I had no idea that there was a program like this at the airport.  Made me proud to know them.

Blessings to you and yours,
