Summertime is officially here, and the temperature is beginning to heat up – that means it is time for snow cones. Number Three Son began sampling different snow cone places, and that made me want to join in the fun.
The plan is to visit several snow cone establishments in the near future, and to share my impressions. I love snow cones. There is something about eating the cold flavored ice that is so refreshing. But – beware of brain freeze.
First up – Bahama Buck’s at Preston and Campbell Road in Dallas. Many of you have driven past Bahama Buck’s and had no idea what it was. This is no little snow cone shack. Sweet Mother of Pearl. Bahama Bucks has a menu that is so extensive that I can not begin to explain it. Basically Bahama Buck’s serves fluffy shaved ice in a bazillion flavors. The menu includes other dessert concoctions that do sound intriguing – coffee house flavors, ice cream/shaved ice combinations, smoothies, sodas, and more. Click HERE to see the menu.
The decor inside Bahama Buck’s is bright and cheerful. The staff was friendly and made our experience fun.
I do not know if you can tell, but behind the girl in the blue shirt is the shaved ice machine. Watching this machine is most fascinating. The block of ice spins, and it is shaved into fluffy mounds of “snow”. I am here to tell you – Bahama Buck’s makes wonderful powdery snow. I like it. I love it. They pack the snow into cups and then add flavorings. Be still my heart. Look at all the different flavor choices, and when you consider the endless combinations – Wow! The extensive menu also includes sugar free options.
“The Greatest Sno on Earth” – cute logo. The little umbrella made me feel like I was in the tropics.
True to his nature, Ever-Lovin’ choose one flavor. Number Three Son choose a combination of three flavors.
My choice was cherry lime. Good choice if I must say so myself. I believe you can choose as many flavors as you like.
All of us enjoyed our shaved ice, and we are looking forward to several return visits this summer. Number Three Son was surprised to discover that there is a Bahama Buck’s in Sachse on Highway 78. It is near his home, and he has driven by it many times, but didn’t realize what it was. Now he knows.
This is a good life. For the sake of the blog, I get to eat snow cones.
Blessings to you and yours,
If you have a favorite snow come joint, let me know and we will visit it.
