Visiting and touring Paris, Texas was a so much fun. Getting to visit again with my dear friend Paula whom I have known since Wallace Elementary days was fantastic. Plus she was an excellent tour guide for her hometown. Honestly, she could get a job being the official spokesperson for Paris, Texas. Joining me on this day trip were friends BB, Mrs. Ralph, and The Mrs.
First things first. We headed for the Paris Bakery for lunch. Paula said we wanted to get there early because sometimes they sell out of food – especially desserts. “Be sure to save room for dessert, because you do not want to miss the desserts at the Paris Bakery”, Paula had written before our trip.
The Paris Bakery is located across the street from the Lamar County Courthouse. Paula says that most days the line is out the door at the Paris Bakery because patrons from the courthouse and the local bank love to eat at there. Since we were at the bakery early, and the courthouse and bank were closed for Good Friday, we were lucky, and we were able to get in the door.
I do understand why this little French bakery is so popular. They serve delicious fresh tasting food made from local products whenever possible. Not only were the desserts wonderful, but the sandwiches, soups, and salads were also delicious.
The oven-fried eggplant sandwich was so tasty. I had never eaten anything like this, and I did love it.
Everyone raved about their meal.
This was the chocolate pie. It was smooth, silky, and the stuff dreams are made of. You can see the care they take to put shaved chocolate on the pie. We also had a slice of the lemon tart. Sweet Mother of Pearl. Perfection! (I am sorry – no picture.) It was a little strange. Different desserts appeared on the counter during the course of our meal. The lemon tart was not out when we first ordered, but I am so thankful Paula rushed to the counter and secured a piece of this tart when it first appeared.
Later butterscotch pot du creme was offered. The Paris Bakery also bakes and sells cookies and various types of breads. It is fitting that this little Parisian bakery is in Paris, Texas.
Trust me. I do not think you will not be disappointed if you eat at the Paris Bakery. They serve breakfast (8:00 – 11:00) and lunch 11:00 -2:30) Monday – Friday. Brunch is served on Saturday (9:00 – 2:30) Dinner is served Wednesday – Saturday (5:00 – 9:00). They are closed on Sundays. I do wish they were closer – like right here in Richardson, Texas.
Blessings to you and yours,
