Pho Crimson

I call Marsha Christmas my best cheerleader.  She faithfully comments on the Lanabird blogs, and she often recommends the blogs to her friends.  I am so thankful.

I got an email from Marsha Christmas:

Don’t know if you like Vietnamese food, Lana, but our son took us to the Pho Crimson in Uptown last week. I had the pork Banh Mi and liked it so well that Wednesday I had another at their new restaurant on Campbell and Greenville. The toasted French banquette is fantastic and the meat and fresh veggies were delish. Sandwiches are not my favorite thing to eat out unless it is Jersey Mike’s No. 13 done Mike’s Way. (I dream about them.) BTW, Jersey Mike is in East Side, too. Now I am adding Bahn Mi to my crave list. So glad they are in Richardson now!

Also tried last week were the yummy spring rolls. Need to try a pho next time and branch out.

Yes, we like Vietnamese food. Yes, Ever-Lovin’ loves pho (rice noodle soup). No, we had not visited Pho Crimson.

We headed over to the Eastside Village because a recommendation from Marsha Christmas gets our attention.  I understand why Marsha Christmas went to Pho Crimson twice in one week – delicious, flavorful, fresh food.

The menu is listed on three large boards, and you order at the counter.  The food is then brought to your table as it is prepared.

The decor is simple and urbane.  Nothing fussy here.  Yes, you can see into the clean kitchen.

We ordered a “small plate” of fried wantons filled with cream cheese.  Yummy!  This was like having dessert first because the dipping sauce was sweet.

Ever-Lovin’ and I shared our orders.  He ordered the Chicken Pho.  Words can not begin to express how delicious the broth was.  How do they get so much flavor into the broth?  There was more than an ample amount of chicken in this soup.  We liked it.  We loved it.  We will return for more of it!  FYI:  This was the small bowl of pho.

What is Pho?

Pho is the culinary treasure of Vietnam and it’s national dish. Comprised of either chicken or beef, it is a complex stock/consume made of long-simmered beef bones or chicken served over rice noodles. It is traditionally served with an accompanyment of fresh basil, bean sprouts, cilantro, peppers, and lime wedges. Pho can be enjoyed all day, from morning til night. (From the Pho Crimson website.)

The Pho was served with this side plate of bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, cucumber, jalapeños, and a lime wedge.  Everything was so fresh.

On Marsha Christmas’ recommendation, I ordered the Pork Banh Mi (sandwich).  She did not lie.  It was delicious.  The marinated grilled pork was tender and tasty.  We loved the carrots on the sandwich.  They were slightly pickled.

Thank you Marsha Christmas for the recommendation.  We will be going back to Pho Crimson soon.  There are so many other items on the menu we would like to try.

Blessings to you and yours,

How wonderful to have new restaurants opening in Richardson.

Now, we need to visit Jersey Mike’s and order the No. 13 done Mike’s Way.  Will let you know.
