Dear friend Carolyn, who loves and cares for me, strongly urged me to join her for water aerobics. Carolyn began attending water aerobics this summer, and she loves it. She raved about the exercise, the instructor, and the friends she has met. To be honest, Carolyn was insistent. She knew I had been walking and exercising in the pool this summer, and she thought this would be a continuation of those efforts. I could not say no to Carolyn. Plus, I thought it might be something I would like – Maybe??
Prospective members are encouraged to visit a class to see “what it is like.” It was…. Water is somewhat cool when you first get in. The instructor is cute, funny, and keeps us moving. And the people in the class are wonderful. Okay. Sign me up.
You can go to any Richardson recreation center – Huffines, Heights, or the Senior Center – to join. I went to the Huffines Recreation Center on Plano Road. I was surprised that this center has been open for four years, and we had never visited it.
We were impressed. There is native landscaping around the entrance. Looks good!
In the area in front of the building, there are benches for sitting and visiting – if you so like.
Inside the 25,000 square foot building is exercise equipment and a lounging area. To the left are rooms that can be rented. Beyond this area is a gym and more (We did not go to the back of the building.) The inside is comfortable and inviting.
I have now been to Huffhines Recreation Center twice, and both times there were intense games of ping-pong being played.
I do love the bridge over Duck Creek that links the ball fields to the rec center.
This area has been landscaped and is beautiful.
It makes me proud to live in a community that strives to provide spaces that enhance our neighborhoods. There are many programs offered at the Huffhines Recreation Center. You can participate in lifelong learning classes, exercise classes, or drop by for socializing with your friends. Life is good.
Blessings to you and yours,
I promise I will share all about water aerobics very soon.
