At 5:44 P.M. Central daylight time on September 22, 2013, autumn officially began. That is the time of the Autumnal Equinox – the time when the sun passes over the Earth’s equator and day and night are about equal. Yes, summer is officially over. It is time to begin thinking about cooler days, fall decor, and warm comforting food.
A few days ago I stopped to visit Mrs. Ralph. (My dear friend that channels the decorating style of Ralph Lauren – so I call her Mrs. Ralph.) She mentioned that she had just finished putting “a few touches of fall” decor into her home. Be still my heart. How wonderful! Fortunately for me – I had Trusty Camera in my purse and was able to take some pictures. Now you are the lucky ones because I can share her autumn pretties with you.
By the front door is an urn filled with a pumpkin. The raffia gives the arrangement a softness and movement.
Here is a peek at the inside of Mrs. Ralph’s home as you enter. Beautiful!
The entry: Mrs. Ralph added a few copper pumpkins with autumn leaves around her pretty angel.
The copper highlights give these pumpkins a glow. They look so rich.
Dining room: Pumpkins gourds, fall leaves, and quail (??) adorn the dining room table.
The large wooden tray is on a burlap cloth. It is filled with antique wooden bowls that surround the fall decorations. The tall candlesticks make for an impressive table.
It appears to be simple, but it is so fantastic. How does she do it?
Living Room: On the coffee table is a wooden tray holding a blue and white Spode bowl.
Oh, how I love this lovely arrangement. Fall leaves, berry twigs, pine cones, pumpkins, and even an artichoke fill the bowl.
Little touches of fall were everywhere. The pumpkin twigs in the large Spode vase give just the right touch to the mantle.
Gourds and pumpkins fill a gorgeous urn on a side table. Everything looks so warm and comfortable.
Kitchen: Be still my heart. I love, love, love the large metal (brass??) planter that is filled with pumpkins, greenery and twigs in Mrs. Ralph’s kitchen.
Mrs. Ralph got the twigs from her yard. How cool is that?
In this arrangement, the pumpkins are different colors, sizes, and textures, and it makes the centerpiece interesting.
Again, a simple pumpkin under a dome on the cake stand is a perfect accent.
Mrs. Ralph’s home is filled with beautiful decor, and everything is displayed with such style. Her home is warm and inviting. Mrs. Ralph has inspired me to drag out my pumpkins and celebrate the Autumnal Equinox.
Blessings to you and yours,
Thank you Mrs. Ralph for sharing.
