Next door to Gecko Hardware is one off my favorite stores called The Store in Lake Highlands.  Stanley Marcus’ book about Neiman Marcus was, “Minding The Store.”  Some people who graduate from a major university in Austin refer to their alma mater as “The University” –  And in Lake Highlands, they have The Store in Lake Highlands.

I love the name  – The Store in Lake Hifhlands – because this not so little boutique clothing and gift shop is one of the best in town with eye candy that will dazzle you.   The Store has been a Lake Highland’s favorite for many many years.  It consistently carries quality stylish merchandise.

Don’t worry, I will share more about The Store in Lake Highlands, but I must first tell you about Karen.  Karen works at The Store.  It was so wonderful to see her again.  We are almost related.  Her mother Irvie was best friends with my mother.  I think they first became friends in sixth grade.  Mother and Irvie were the kinds of friends that spent almost every night together.  When mother was sick, Karen brought Irvie all the way to Andrews to visit.  It was wonderful, and mother loved seeing them.  I had not heard from Irvie in a while, so I wondered if she was doing all right.  Sweet Mother of Pearl.  At 95 years young, Irvie drove herself from Houston to Dallas last weekend.  Yes, she drove herself.  She is active – walks the mall daily – and enjoys life.  It was so good to hear.  Seeing Karen again made my day.

The collection of Vera Bradley items is a sight to behold and buy.

I have my eye on some of the Vera Bradley baby items.  They are cute – bright colors and fun prints.

There are so many darling clothes, bibs, blankets, toys, plush animals, and books in this area.  I liked them.  I loved them.

There are several lines of jewelry for sale at The Store in Lake Highlands.  Good looking!

You can tell why it is called The Store.  There are so many wonderful choices.  Walls are covered with home and seasonal decor.

Tyler candles are always a favorite. Love the large sunflowers.

This made me laugh – the Man Cave.  Gentlemen need gifts also.
