If I were a religious person, I might say that “it has been impressed on my heart” that my teapot situation is out of control. But that is not necessarily true. I do not think my collection of teapots as sinful – just excessive. I have enjoyed the teapots and have used them many many times – but now, I want to be more modern and not so cluttered.\
I have a teapot my mother received as a wedding present. (The white pot with a ship on the front.)
Friends and family have generously given me teapots as gifts, and I have loved all of them. I can tell you who gave me each teapot.
True, I also bought teapots. I liked them. I loved them. I still love them, but maybe I could downsize a little.
But trying to downsize is beyond difficult.
I have a teapot I received as a wedding present. ( The teapot on the right.)
I love the Wedgwood hunt scene teapot with the dog handle.
Granny’s (Ever-Lovin’s grandmother) gave us her Currier and Ives teapot. I do love connections to the past. What to do?
On the butler’s pantry shelves, (I like to think of it as a butler’s pantry) there are blue and white teapots. Daddy bought me the blue and white chintz pot at a flea market in Odessa. Such fond memories.
In the guest room – or Super Sister’s room as it is better known – there is a Royal Teapot set to honor the Royals who grace this room.
Then there is the silver service that I got for a song at an estate sale many years ago.
There is the chintz set that I felt so lucky to get.
This teapot is from the millennium? I love it!
Oh, there are other teapots. Christmas teapots in crates. Miniature teapots on shelves.
I have even kept a favorite teapot (It makes a wonderful pot of tea, and the infuser is a plus) with a broken lid hoping to someday find a lid to fit. I know. You are thinking, “She is sick. Is there a Twelve Step Program for teapot collectors?”
I am not doing anything today. Serious decisions such as this take careful consideration, but…
For those of you whose spiritual gift is de-cluttering , please do not think too harshly about me.
Tonight I am reminded of Psalm 139: 14
Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
Even with a bazillion teapot – I praise God.
Blessings to you and yours,
