More fun began when Jorene and I hit the streets of downtown Weatherford. I was shocked how many shops there were.
Basically we shopped York and Main Streets which are side streets to the square.
First stop was in a most unusual boutique called Something Special. Sherry O’ creates hand painted shirts (she is wearing one) and specialty items. Loved the shoes that were waiting to be picked up and worn to a local event.
Her sweat shirts and t-shirts for Christmas on the Square appear to be must haves for many Weatherford ladies.
Sherry was friends with Larry Hagman and was even invited to his funeral. She is helping the citizens of Weatherford raise money for a statue to honor him.
John Stout who did the murals at the Weatherford Downtown Cafe also painted this mural. It is amazing.
For “nice” gifts, the Heritage House is the place to go. This was a beautiful store full of quality merchandise.
Then we began our journey visiting the many little antique shops. It was fun searching through all the goodies. The booths were filled with some good and some not so good merchandise. Of course, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, so there is something for everyone.
In one store window there was an vintage teeter-totter. Seeing items such as this brings back such fond childhood memories.
Some shops were more up-scale.
This three panel mirror caught my eye. I wondered about its backstory. Was it from a dry goods store or an elegant home?
Anyone looking for a vintage wedding dress? You can find one in downtown Weatherford.
Be still my heart. What a beautiful beaded lace bodice.
There is something I want in this picture. Maybe I will get it when I go back to Weatherford. Did I mention I am going to return – soon?
A fine selection of kitchen cabinets were for sale.
Christmas year around was in this booth.
Quilters – and I know who you are – can shop for quilting fabrics.
There were so many choices – lamp parts, jewelry, Texana and patriotic items. The list goes on and on.
Looking for a genuine Roy Rogers shirt? They got it.
Someone must need a buffalo head for their lodge.
The General Motors shelf was so unique. I think it is cleaver and could make a major statement in a room.
We literally shopped until we dropped – not even stopping for lunch.
Towards the end of the day, I stopped taking pictures. (My bad.) I was too busy shopping.
Before I had to head back to Richardson, Jorene and I did stop at Cup & Cake for some tea and a treat.
The carrot cake was humongous, and filled with carrots and nuts. The cake was very moist almost like a fruit cake.
My apple pie was delicious. What I liked best was that it was over-filled with apples.
I hated to leave. It was so much fun being with Jorene, and there was more to see and do. I will be back.
Blessings to you and yours,
Thank you for reading Lanabird. Love ya,
