Hot Rod has been attending VBS and Music Camp this week at First Baptist Church Richardson. They had an open house, but there was a failure to communicate. We did not know that the fifth and sixth graders got to meet in the youth building. Being in the youth building made them feel like teenagers. Then a thought crossed my mind. Oh no! It will not be long until he is a teenager. Being a teenager is a scary thing. At least it is for this grandparent.
The Colossal Coaster World was the theme for the musical. Through every twist, turn, and dive, Colossal Coaster World challenged the children to face their fears and trust God.
The songs presented encouraged the children to Dare to Speak Up, Dare to Stand Up, and Dare to Believe.
I love how Hot Rod sings with enthusiasm. Makes me proud. He is on the top row second from the left.
What a good lesson they were learning. In all ways we are to face our fears and trust God.
All of the children did a great job.
Yes, life does have its ups and downs, but the verse for the week reminds us:
2 Timothy 1:7
New International Version (NIV)
7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
I am reminded that I need to face my fears and trust God as Hot Rod enters his teenage years. Praying that the lessons of this week will remain with him.
Blessings to you and yours,
I love belonging to a church that loves children and strives to Start children off in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6
