A few warm days, and we know spring and summer will soon be here. It is not my intention to rush nature, but …. It is time for spring to be here, and that means – it is time for some occasional ice cream treats. There is no better place for handmade gourmet ice cream than right here in Richardson at Sweet Firefly.
I love everything about Sweet Firefly. I love the name – Sweet Firefly. As children, nothing was more magical than fireflies. They fascinate me to this very day. What an experience to see glowing flickering lights flying through the dark of night.
Be still my heart. Their desire is to “celebrate life” with us. Food – especially decadent ice cream does have a way to make one happy. Like fireflies we are to “spread our own joy and light when you leave this happy place.” Perfect. I am a sucker for love and peace.
This tee-shirt is wonderful. I couldn’t agree more. “Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy ice cream, and that’s basically the same thing!”
The stars of the show at Sweet Firefly are their handmade gourmet ice creams. Sweet Mother of Pearl. It doesn’t get any better than this. Quality ingredients paired with innovative flavors sets Sweet Firefly in a class of their own. I believe they also sell to some high-end restaurants around the Dallas area. We are lucky and can buy from their quaint storefront in Canyon Creek. (North of Lookout at 2701 Custer.)
Flavors change regularly, but there are always good choices.
Shaved ice is served year-round, and they also make Snowballs – layers of shaved ice and ice cream served with your favorite flavoring.
Need a local candy counter? Sweet Firefly offers a great selection of bulk candy to purchase.
But if you ask me. Go for the ice cream. For blogging sake, Ever-Lovin’ is enjoying licking my cone. The Coffee Toffee Crunch ice cream was delicious – will order again. Ever-Lovin’ had Coconut Almond Fudge – yummy! In my book, the cost is also reasonable. If I remember correctly, a single dip is $2.50 and a double dip is $3.50.
Angie Conard and Patti Otte (not pictured) are the owners of this unique ice cream parlor. Each time I have been in Sweet Firefly, Angie has been so friendly. Their goal is to promote a sense of community. I think it is working.
Blessings to you and yours,
Angie and Patti were featured in Crave Dallas – a guidebook for Dallas living. “Crave Dallas is a celebration of women entrepreneurs that showcases some of the most creative, interesting, and gutsy proprietors throughout our area. What an honor.
When asked what was their motto or theme song, they answered:
The time to be happy is now.
They place to be happy is here.
The way to be happy is to make others so.
Robert Ingersoll
So true.
Again, I get nothing for sharing my opinions.
Mondays are a days of rest for Sweet Firefly, and they are closed. Tuesday through Saturday they are opened from 12 noon to 9 p.m. On Sundays they are open from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m.
