Oscar Night

What a fun night.  It was the annual Oscar Watch gathering for my good friends known as The Buds.  This has been a yearly tradition for many, many years.  This year, Mrs. Ralph was the hostess with the mostest, and she does know how to do things right.

Be still my heart. We were greeted at the door with a chocolate rose.  I knew we were going to be treated royally.

As we were escorted into the “Green Room” (kitchen), we were presented with our “goodie baskets” for the evening.  Sweet Mother of Pearl!  These baskets are beyond cute.  The glittery baskets have all the glitz and glam of Hollywood, and there is also good stuff in them – Symphony Bar, Pop Corn, Mentos Gum, Junior Mints, and a Diet Coke.

Even the plates were covered with stars.

Then It was time to watch the Oscars.  True confession.  I do not know about movies.  I hate this about myself.  It is un-American.  Of this year’s nominated pictures, I think I have seen two – Le Miserables (violent but good) and Brave.  That is a pitiful list.  Let it be known that I want to see others – Lincoln, Life of Pi, and Anna Karenina come to mind.

My friends The Buds know about movies.  Friend BB’s knowledge of movies is amazing.  She knows actors and actresses from long, long ago and the movies they were in.  Not only that, she can describe scenes and quote lines from a bazillion movies.  It is a fact – BB is an authority on old movies.  She also knows current movies because she and her sister Carol go to a movie almost every Saturday.  When it was time to predict winners, BB (and the others) could make intelligent predictions.  Me –  I made my predictions based on TV ads and gossip.

I do like looking at the dresses.  This year most of the ones I remember were gorgeous – thankfully there were no “swan” dresses.  (Do you remember that hideous dress?)  A few of the actors and actresses appeared to be having bad hair days, but I bet they paid good money to look that bad.  So sad.  Seth MacFarlane was/is cute.  He did okay as the host.  As you can see, I can not share details about The Oscars because I don’t know enough about the actors, actresses and movies to write more.

I do like being with my friends.

Blessings to you and yours,
