Each year Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery at the corner of Greenville Avenue and Walnut Street in Dallas, displays flags in memory of our fallen soldiers. It is touching, and I wanted to share this picture with you.
Sadly there are 6,431 flags displayed this year.
I know this does not make sense – I hate war, but fiercely love the men and women who fight for our freedom. When Ever-Lovin’ was drafted, never once did we (I think the ones left behind are serving also) consider not answering the call.
My father was a veteran of WWII who served under General Patton. His sisters talked about how different he was after “The War”. He was one of the ones who seldom talked about “The War”. In our home, we never watched war movies – (until the movie Patton). I guess they hit too close to home.
Consider the difference in our world because of men and women who have served in our Armed Forces.
For all the sacrifices, thank you Veterans.
