Ham with Spicy Cherry Sauce

Panic!  Easter will be here and I have not shared any of my favorite recipes.  Let’s begin with the entrée.

Many times ham is the protein of choice around here for Easter.  I buy one of the spiral cut hams.  You can either heat it in the oven (300 degrees for 1 ½ hours), or serve the ham at room temperature since it is fully cooked.  We have served it both ways, and both work fine.

Spicy Cherry Sauce is my favorite sauce to serve with the ham.  It will make you happy.  The sauce is easy, easy, easy and so good.  Just wait until you smell this cooking.  Oh, my!  It will make your home smell divine, and then when you eat it – that little piggy will go wee-wee-wee all the way to your tummy.  It is wonderful!  The recipe came from a Taste of Home Simple and Delicious Magazine a couple of years ago.  Now when I serve ham, this is my go to sauce.  Everytime I serve it, guests want the recipe.

Enjoy!

Blessings,

Spicy Cherry Sauce

This is a delicious cherry sauce. I serve it with ham, but I'm sure it would also be good on other pork or chicken dishes. It is easy enough to serve anytime.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan combine all ingredients.
  2. Bring to a boil and simmer for 3-4 minutes until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Turn heat to low and continue simmering until ready to serve. I think it is best when it simmers for 30 minutes or more, and is reduced by at least a third.
  4. This can be made up to a week ahead and reheated when ready to serve.
