Lana Colvin Albers went to the LORD on April 28, 2015. She was born in Stephenville, Texas on December 1, 1944 to Raymond Elgin Colvin and Rachel Cleone Fields Colvin, who both have preceded her in death. She grew up in the west Texas oil town of Andrews. She graduated from Texas Tech in Lubbock where she played clarinet in the marching band. After going to Indiana where her husband attended graduate school and to Germany where her husband served in the Army, they moved to Dallas where they raised their three sons and she taught in RISD as an elementary teacher. She was forced to retire from teaching after 27 years when she developed cancer.
Lana’s disease did not slow her down. She was always upbeat and enthusiastic planning, catering, and decorating for parties of all types as she had done all her life. She loved socializing with friends while shopping, eating, and playing cards. She loved the LORD, leading her Bible fellowship class in ministry to its members and in mission projects all over Dallas County. She gave love and encouragement to all that she met.
Lana is survived by husband Edwin Albers of Richardson; son Christopher Albers, daughter-in-law Mikel, grandson Indiana of Richardson; son Nathaniel Albers, daughter-in-law Jennifer, granddaughter Emma of Garland; son Benjamin Albers of Wylie; sister Donna Lambert of Cedar Park.
Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home on Thursday, April 30 from 6-8 pm. After a private graveside service, a memorial service will be at First Baptist Church Richardson on Friday, May 1 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in her honor to Mercy Street, 3801 Holystone, Dallas, TX.
