Just in case you haven’t heard. Restaurant supply stores are beyond wonderful. Yes, you heard me correctly. Restaurant supply stores are w-o-o-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l! Having the right tools in the kitchen makes cooking and baking easier. A mechanic needs tools to fix a car. A gardner needs special tools for gardening. A plumber needs special tools to fix the plumbing. An electrician…You get the idea. Having the right tools in the kitchen makes life so much easier.
Mere mortals can shop at restaurant supply stores. The same tools that are available to chefs can be yours. I tend to frequent Ace Mart on Beltline Road in Garland (just beyond Jupiter Road) because it is rather near me. They do not know me – this is just a public service announcement.
On my latest trip to Ace Mart, I had to restock my supply of storage containers. Forget Tupperware. Forget Glad or ??? containers. These clear plastic containers are the ones used at deli counters. They come in three sizes – quart, pint, and half-pint. (Maybe there is one more size). The real beauty of these containers is (drum roll please) The lid fits all three sizes. No more hunting, digging, trying on for size, etc. for the correct lid for a certain container. I also like that the containers are clear and you can see through them. You can see what you have stored. They are sturdy enough to be reused if you so desire.
The next best things about these deli containers is that they do not require much space. Each of these stacks contain ten containers. It is so easy to find the needed size, and remember – one size lid fits all. Ever-Lovin’ reminded me that even in the refrigerator these containers do not require much space. One container takes up less room than a saucer on the refrigerator shelf., and they stack easily.
Another bonus is that they are reasonably priced. When taking a meal to someone or sending leftovers home with the kids or friends they are super handy, and you do not have to fear losing more expensive containers. The one negative is that you have to buy fifty of each size, but… they store compactly.
Just thought I would share. I like them. I love them.
Blessings to you and yours,
Oh, I bought more on that trip to Ace Mart – will share later.
