Tuesday, December 31st is the last day to see the angels that adorn the DeGolyer Mansion at the Dallas Arboretum. If you want to see this exhibit, this is your last day to go. Sorry for the short notice – I just visited the show today.
The magnificent Neapolitan Baroque Angels on the Blue Spruce Christmas Tree at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City was the inspiration for this year’s exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum. While the angels displayed in the DeGolyer Mansion can not compare with the angels at the Met, the Arboretum display of angels was most interesting and enjoyable. There were all sizes of angels made from various materials. So many of the angels were displayed in beautiful floral arrangements while others filled shelves and cases. In all there were over 500 angels on display courtesy of the Dallas Pi Beta Phi Alumnae.
In the entry, a towering arrangement reaches to the ceiling. Most impressive.
Angel candleholders were exquisite. These lovely angels were displayed on top of a cabinet.
The garden angel stood in front of the library tree. Lovely.
In the bedroom, this angel did remind me of the Baroque angels at the Met.
An angel carved from stone caught my attention. I think it is from Peru.
Be still my heart. This angel has such a pretty face. I like her. I love her.
Large cherubs were on each corner of the ornate decorations on the mantel.
These are just a few of the many many angels in this exhibit. Do go if you can, or plan to go next year when the theme will be The Twelve Days of Christmas.
Blessings to you and yours,
