Can you imagine staying in one of the loveliest historic homes in Henderson? That was our privilege during our recent East Texas journey. The Mr. and The Mrs. are related to Nancy who inherited the McNee Home. Nancy graciously allowed us to stay at the McNee Home during our visit to Henderson. We are blessed.
When we first laid eyes on the McNee Home, all I could think was – wow! The home and the landscaping were beautiful.
The grounds are expansive and lovely.
This is the view of the back of the house. Gorgeous.
Can you believe? This is a storage building. Too cute.
As we walked through the door, I felt we were visiting royalty.
The parlor was stately but comfortable. It was filled with antique furnishings and accessories.
An antique portrait hangs over the mantle. I would love to know the backstory of this painting.
A tea party in this lovely room would be grand.
The dining room is graced with a beautiful crystal chandler. It is elegant.
Beyond the door is the breakfast room where I lost at cards each night. Some things never change.
A banjo clock – This is something that could be on the Antiques Road Show. It was one of our “favorite things”.
The reversed painted picture on the glass front is of the Boston State House.
I love, love, love the den. It was decorated western chic, and it was fantastic. Everything is well done.
The cowgirl painting over the fireplace thrills my heart. Nancy’s uncle collected nutcrackers, and these Native American nutcrackers are most unusual.
The barley twist chair with a hide seat got my attention.
The downstairs powder room also has a western theme. The antler mirror was another “favorite thing”. Family photographs throughout the home add a special touch.
The tile edging around the mirror looks like barbwire.
Be still my heart. All linens – towels and bed linens – in the Mc Nee Home are monogramed. I liked it. I loved it.
Welcome to the master bedroom. Beautiful. Again, with all the fantastic antiques in this room, black and white family pictures fill the walls. I like that.
Just wanted you to get to see a close-up of the carved wood canopy. Talk about sleeping like a queen. I think this will work.
Another “favorite thing” was the Napoleon lamp. Fantastic.
The metal cross stand in the master bath is wonderful – another “favorite thing”. This is perfect in a bath. Makes me want to meditate and relax.
The views from every angle were amazing.
The upstairs bedrooms were inviting and comfortable. The detail carving on this bed took my breath away.
Two – yes, two – beautiful double beds fill this room.
It would be impossible to pick a favorite bedroom. They were all amazing with beautiful accessories. I have never been to a bed and breakfast better than this.
Sweet Mother of Pearl. Another bedroom was graced by this antique spool bed.
The upstairs bath reminded me of a spa. The blue and white tile floor was charming.
Outside the breakfast room is a small garden with a fountain. I am here to tell you. Around every corner of this beautiful home were surprises.
When I think of the Mc Nee Home, I am impressed with the beautiful home and furnishings. The lovely gardens are beyond wonderful. I also feel this home has been – and is – well loved and cherished. The personal touches – like the family pictures throughout the home – are a testimony to the importance of family and family history. Thank you Nancy for your hospitality.
Blessings to you and yours,
What wonderful memories were made during this East Texas journey with these dear friends. Thanks to The Mrs. for arranging a fantastic trip.
