My friend The Mrs. called one day and said, “Have I got the perfect thing for you”. Well maybe she didn’t actually say those exact words, but it was something like that because she had heard about a DallasBIG contest sponsored by The Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau. Loree (The cute and talented wife to The Mrs.’ son Michael.) called and told The Mrs. about the contest, and The Mrs. called and told me. I love it. This contest is perfect for bloggingdom.
Here is the situation. Around town – Click HERE for locations – are humongous B & G letters. People are suppose to stand between the B and the G to be the “I” because it is the people of Dallas that makes Dallas BIG, and BIG things are happening here. Then you post your pictures on social media sites. Clear as mud? Click HERE to go to the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau site that explains it much better.
Back in the 1950’s there was a song called Big D. I remember the part about “Big D- little a-double l-a-s”. This contest reminded me of that song. (I looked it up. It was a song from the musical The Most Happy Fella written by Frank Loesser.) Dallas (in my opinion) has always been a larger than life city, and it holds a mystic for the entire world. (Sorry to digress.)
So the gang headed to The Galleria to take pictures, eat, and shop.
At The Galleria, the B & G are on the first floor above the ice rink. Friend BB always puts fun and excitement into all she does. It is people like her that makes Dallas BIG.
The Mrs. also had to be the “I”. She knows everything that is going on in this grand city. She is our guide.
If she holds her hands up, there is the dot over the “I”.
It was a BIG wonderful day – fun photos, good food (more about that later), and productive shopping with the gang.
Sweet Mother of Pearl. I must tell you. I am beyond proud to have lived in BIG D. BIG things are happening here, and Dallas is the BIG place to be. I try to cover as many of these BIG events, happenings, and restaurants as I can on Lanabird. Thank you for reading.
Blessings to you and yours,
#DallasBIG
The contest runs through April 26, 2013. Hurry to make your BIG statement for Dallas. Prizes are being awarded.
