Highland Park Pharmacy

While out and about with fantastic friend Pat, guess what I learned.  Fantastic friend Pat had never – ever – ever enjoyed going to Highland Park Pharmacy.  The Highland Park Pharmacy that was established in 1912, and has served breakfast, lunch and most importantly soda fountain treats to countless generations of Dallasites.  I could not believe what I was hearing.  I was amazed.  I was shocked.  How could this be?  To be honest, I felt sorry for her.  Our destination became 3229 Knox Street.

Back in the days, I remember taking the boys to the pharmacy so they could experience a soda fountain like we had at Smith Drug in Andrews.  Unbelievably, you can still have this unique experience.

The decor and ambiance at Highland Park Pharmacy is the real thing.  It is certainly not fancy, but there are antique ceiling tiles and ceiling fans with wonderful vintage globes.

Breakfast as well as lunch is served but the real stars of the menu come from the soda fountain.

People crowd at the lunch counter for the authentic experience.

This father was making sure there were no drips.

These precious girls are sharing a soda.  One has the straw, and the other has the spoon for the ice cream.  It seems they have a good system going.  The soda’s are delicious – an excellent choice.  FYI: You can order real malts at HP Pharmacy.  Yummy!

To be honest, the sandwiches are okay, but not great.  But, the atmosphere and soda fountain treats make this a must go place.

I could not agree more.  Highland Park Pharmacy’s Old Fashioned Soda Fountain certainly belongs in the Dallas Foodie Hall of Fame.

Blessings to you and yours,

Monday – Saturday hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  They open at 10 a.m. on Sunday.  Highland Park Pharmacy is usually crowded, and the servers are rushed.  Just enjoy the old-fashioned experience.
