2013 Auto Show

FYI:  The 2013 Dallas Auto Show is at the Convention Center in downtown Dallas, and it will continue to be there through the 16th and 17th of March (2013).  Just wanted you to know in case you are interested.

Hot Rod and his parents wanted to visit this year’s Auto Show as a spring break outing.  I thought okay, but….  I am here to tell you it was so much more fun than I imagined.  Not only are the cars shiny and wonderful, but there were so many interactive things to do.  Hot Rod was smiling the entire time.    He liked it.  He loved it.

When we first walked into the Convention Center, we knew we were in new car heaven – the room was filled with the smell of new cars.  I think that smell triggers something in your brain that makes you want to buy a car.  It is dangerous.  weird headlights on this Nissan Z.

This Chevrolet photo booth was fantastic.  You dressed up, acted silly while they took pictures, and then they made a flip book for you.

They had this neat-0 machine that cut the pictures into pages perfectly.  It was amazing.

Look at this.  A Hot Wheels Camaro.

Hot Rod has his eyes on the Corvettes.

Loved seeing the luxury cars – Bentley, Rolls Royce, and Maserati.  Wow!

You could virtually spray paint a car.  It was a good way to see the available colors.

Around every corner were photo opportunities.  I love this boy.

There are a series of these super hero cars from Kia.

A bounce house, an obstacle course, and a giant slide were also available for the young-uns.

Memory Lane had fantastic restored vintage cars.

Be still my heart.  Just look at this!

Hot Rod loved taking pictures of these beauties.

Are you in the market for a military truck?

Hot Rod even tried out the race track simulator.  This was great fun.

Mikel has her eye on the Hyundai Veloster.  I had never seen one.  It is so cute – a three door car.

Ever-Lovin’, tried out the gangsta Chrysler 300.  He does not like black interiors.

As we were leaving, Mikel and Hot Rod couldn’t resist making a video.  Oh, yeah!

Of course, there was every type and model of car you could imagine.  You could sit in them  (even take test drives) and generally dream of being king of the road.

If you are wanting something to do this weekend, maybe this would fit the bill.  There are discount coupons in the Dallas Morning News.  You do not have to fight traffic or worry about parking.  The Dart Light Rail (red line) goes to the Convention Center, and it is so easy.

Blessings to you and yours,

We stopped by the West End for lunch on our way home.  (Gators is not recommended, but there are plenty of other choices.)
