Friends, teachers and directors of First Baptist Church Richardson gathered to honor Pastor Candy Smith as she retires. I must admit that it really bums me that Candy is retiring. I consider her a friend, a mentor, and I am honored to know her. The good thing is that she will still be around and an influence in our church.
The theme for the dinner party for Candy was Candy’s Favorite Things. What a great idea. Each table was decorated with Candy’s Favorite Things. So much thought and planning went into this party to make it personal.
Candy attended Howard Payne University, and she has been actively involved with this university since her graduation. For many years she has served on the HPU Board of Directors. There was a large number of her college buddies at the dinner, and they were a lively fun group of women.
I loved the pictures from her college annuals that decorated some tables. Lasso Beauty – Yes!
Candy was also the Basketball Sweetheart. Empire waist were certainly the “in thing”.
I believe she was also chosen Homecoming Queen, but I didn’t see that picture.
Yes! all these words describe Candy.
Candy loves the Dallas Arboretum. The tulips were beautiful.
Yumilicious is another of Candy’s favorite things. On one occasion Candy treated the Living Stones Bible Fellowship class to this tasty yogurt. My favorite mixture is avocado with strawberry. Then I top it with fresh strawberries and Snickers. I know that is weird, but… That is what I like.
Tiffs Treats – nothing is better than receiving a box of their freshly baked cookies.
New Mexico and “boot scooting” to country music are more of Candy’s favorite things. Love those boots!
This table is so colorful. Candy loves going to the movies. The chain made from tickets is so clever.
Going to the theater was the theme of this table. Seeing musicals ranks as one of Candy’s most favorite things to do.
Dinner was from one of her favorite restaurants – Babe’s. I was too busy eating chicken to take a picture – I do love Babe’s food – especially their corn. I could eat it every day.
Sweet Mother of Pearl. This was so cool. We were served Tiff’s Treats for dessert, and get this! – The chocolate chip cookies were still warm and gooey. Life is good.
As favors, there was a Candy Bar – logical isn’t it!
“Candy’s my favorite!” I think everyone in attendance at this dinner would “Amen” that.
Candy has blessed my life, and I am thankful for her.
Blessings to you and yours,
