MarshaChristmas asked if I had been to Lekka, a restaurant on Preston Road (just north of Summerside) in Dallas, Texas. She thought Lanabird would enjoy this restaurant. I had not even heard of Lekka, so I put Lekka on my “Want To Do” list, but… time passed, and I did not go. Recently MarshChristmas again asked me if I had had the opportunity to dine at Lekka. I had to admit that we had not gone, but I realized if she asked me a second time, she felt strongly about her recommendation. Lekka moved to the top of my “Want To Do” list.
Sweet Mother of Pearl – I now understand why MarshaChristmas recommended Lekka. The decor is so fresh and charming. The food is delicious, and they even have a gift shop.
The full parking lot was our first clue that this was one good eating establishment. We got the last available parking space, and there was parking around three sides of the building.
This was the entrance by the back parking lot.
Be still my heart! I loved their patio with the trees filled with fairy lights. On a day that is warmer, this would be the perfect place for patio dining.
Inside Lekka this chandelier got my attention. I liked it. I loved it.
Chalkboards announce the daily specials. I mention this because we missed seeing them when we walked in.
Our server Gabe (I think that was his name.) was so friendly and helpful. He has a lot of energy.
The Fried Mac and Cheese on a bed of marinara sauce was so good. It is on the appetizer menu, and it is certainly enough to share. We brought half of it home.
Ever-Lovin’s Lekka Burger was delicious. It was huge, and fell apart. Isn’t that what good hamburgers do? It is topped with guacamole and pico. Yummy! Half of this came home also. There were so many things on the menu that I would like to try. Everything that we saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing.
There was a large order of fries that came with the hamburger – he could have chosen a salad. The fries came in one of those cute spiral holders and were tasty.
You might have the impression that we were being good by bringing half of our food home – fuhgeddaboudit! We had our reasons – the dessert case was filled with yummy looking pies and cakes.
Ever-Lovin got the Coconut Cream Pie. It was very good, but…
My choice – the Banana Pecan Caramel Pie was unbelievably delicious. The crust was tender and flaky. The pecan layer was not gooey, but was almost like a pecan crust layer. Then there were the bananas and cream topped with caramel. Banana Pecan Caramel Pie might rank as the best thing I have ever eaten. Honestly! If and when you go, you might like to eat dessert first, but then you would miss the other good things to eat. Choices are hard.
Lekka is South African for awesome, amazing, and delicious. I think Lekka has lived up to its name. I can see why it is so popular, and why MarshaChristmas so wanted me to go. Thank you MarshaChristmas for the recommendation.
Blessings to you and yours,
There is a nice gift and patio shop associated with the restaurant. We did not have time to shop on that day, but I do want to go back and shop.
