It had been a while since we had been to Buckner, and it was good to be back.
In the small auditorium there was somethings new hanging on the wall.
Buckner has t-shirts for sale. I believe some of these must be associated with fund raising events.
T-shirts can easily share the message of an organization. I love this shirt with the Hope Shines Here logo.
Perhaps my favorite is the James 1:27 t-shirt. This verse is so powerful, and challenging.
Buckner is not just about Shoes for Orphan Souls, although that is a major part of Buckner International. In the Dallas area, volunteering opportunities include after-school tutoring, teaching life skills classes, childcare, special event assistance, and internships. You can look online HERE to see more about volunteering at Buckner.
Hosting or participation in shoe drives is always needed.
The shoes we sorted this time came from a shoe drive in Tennessee(???). They had collected something like 2500 pairs of shoes. Amazing.
Grady, the warehouse coordinator, mentioned how Buckner is coming to the aid of refugees and others that are in war torn countries. It always inspiring to hear the stories of how lives are impacted by Christians sharing God’s love.
A special treat was working along side members of the Texas Instruments Alumni Association. These TI alumni volunteer once a month in different locations around Dallas. I think that is so nice.
It was a good day, and I always feel blessed when volunteering at Buckner.
Blessings to you and yours,
