For five decades, Oscar de la Renta has been a leading fashion designer. The retrospective of his creations on exhibit at The George W. Bush Presidential Library are breathtaking.
After viewing his beautiful evening gowns, I do believe that it is true – Oscar de la Renta is the “King of Evening!” In the introductory video, Former First Lady Laura Bush mentions that Oscar de la Renta understands women and how they want to feel in their clothes.

Hand applied details are amazing. This dress is covered with little white tassels.
Ribbon-work and beads cover this gown. How many man or woman hours would this require?
Mr. de la Renta is an avid lifelong gardner, and he uses floral themes (floral prints and embroidery) throughout his work.
Jenna Bush’s wedding dress is on display. It is so gorgeous. Lace and beading completely cover the dress. The dress on the right was Mrs. Bush’s dress for the wedding
Be still my heart. Included in the exhibit are stunning evening gowns worn on red carpets by celebrities. (Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Ann Hathaway are the ones I remember.) It is interesting to see the pictures of the celebrities wearing the gowns.
The “little black dress” take on a new meaning when it is designed by Oscar de la Renta.
Former First Ladies, Nancy Reagan, Hillary Clinton, and Laura Bush contributed daywear and evening dresses.
Truly these First Ladies are trendsetters in style and fashion.
One huge wall is adorned with copies of magazine layouts Wow!
What delicious eye candy we enjoyed today. The gowns are amazing. The exhibit will be at The George W. Bush Presidential Library through October 5, 2014, and it is worth a look-see. It is hard to comprehend that real people get to pay dress-up in these beautiful gowns.
Blessings to you and yours,
