Two recommendations gets our attention – even if the two recommendations are basically from the same source. Several moons ago Gary K. told us about a very inexpensive breakfast diner, BUT he couldn’t remember the name. We drove to the area, but there were two restaurants. We didn’t know which restaurant he was recommending, so we left. Then summer came, and we basically forgot about the recommendation until last week.
Ann and Bob asked if we had been to Garland Cafe. (Gary K. had told them about the restaurant.) They were raving about the good food and super good prices. Okay! Now we had a name for the recommended restaurant, and we couldn’t wait to give it a try.
Garland Cafe can be found on the southeast corner of Buckingham and Shiloh Road in Garland, Texas. It s a small mom and pop type place in a strip shopping plaza.
You do not go to Garland Cafe for the decor. In fact it is somewhat entertaining to look around and see what they have chosen to hang on the walls. The restaurant is small, and tables are close together. It is like eating family style.
No matter what – you can’t go wrong with hanging Old Glory.
Garland Cafe is open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. The “Build Your Own Breakfast” is the deal Gary, Ann and Bob were raving about.
Yes, for $3.99 you choose three breakfast items – plus a drink. Amazing but true.
AND – the food was good. They even put the pancakes on a separate plate. I really like that because I do not like syrup on my eggs.
The man at the table next to ours mentioned that this was also his first visit to Garland Cafe. It was interesting. He also was surprised at the quality of the food considering the price. The wait staff was friendly and kept the coffee coming. He said he also usually goes to House Cafe in Richardson, but he would certainly be back to Garland Cafe considering the good service, decent food, and unbelievably low prices.
Ann and Bob have also tried their burgers, and they liked them. For $3.99 you get a cheeseburger, fries and a drink. What a deal!
It ain’t fancy. But for decent food at a good value, it might be worth the effort to drive into Garland and visit the Garland Cafe.
Blessings to you and yours,
They do have other items on the menu – omelets, breakfast burritos, daily specials, sandwiches, salads, and more.
