It has taken a while, but we finally have new floors in our den and dining room. It was a struggle. Nothing is ever easy.
The story I am about to tell is the truth – the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
Super Sister called and said that big box lumberyard was having a flooring sale, and we should go and check it out. We went, and there was no one in the department that could help us. One kind man (who did not work in that department) tried to act like he had a clue, but he didn’t.
Then we went to a major flooring store, gave the man our information and brought home a sample. When we returned, that particular location had closed.
You really can’t expect help at a discount store, and we thought we needed some guidance. So scratch that store off the list.
We went to another location of the previously mentioned major flooring store, and it did not work. Other salesmen were correcting the salesman trying to help us, and he had no idea of the price of some of his products. (He was too lazy to look them up.) I kid you not!
We went to another chain flooring store, and that salesman basically said, “You wouldn’t want to buy this would you?” We moved on. (And he wonders why he doesn’t make many sales.)
This was getting frustrating.
In desperation, we called the flooring companies that are advertised on TV. (I did know someone who had used them.) The first one wanted me to buy a totally different flooring than I wanted. Really!
The second young man was nice, knowledgeable, and sold us a pretty floor. Finally!
Getting ready for the installers was akin to moving.
The garage was filled.
The old, old carpet was removed.
Removing the old, old carpet, and installing the three steps took one entire day of installation. They said the job would probable take a day. Wrong!
Three days later, we had beautiful new floors.
Thank goodness Sylvia came the next day to help me clean. Dust was an inch thick – everywhere.
What is the saying? “You buy a doorknob, and you have to buy a house to go with it”. Honestly, I wanted to completely redo these rooms, but…. Instead, I pretended that I moved, and tried to pare down and reduce clutter. (I doubt you can tell the difference, but I can.)
So thankful this stage of the ordeal is over, and I love the new floors.
Blessings to you and yours,
