There is a group of ladies at First Baptist Church Richardson known as the Builders and Boomers, and they have become known as a group of fun loving women – or is it loving fun women? Either way – you get the message. Rebekah (an amazing lady) organized a group of these women to come join us for brunch. I am always looking forward to having a party, and I was so thankful they came. We had the best time – at least I did!
Planning the party is always fun. There are many aspects to consider.
What kind of party should we have? Brunch, Lunch, Tea, etc.? We decided on a brunch – one of my favorite types of gatherings.
What about a theme? This time a theme evolved. I have found that often happens. While playing with how to set the table, ideas began to come together. A rooster was set on the table since it was a brunch, and then other rooster/chicken items were added. I am so thankful to have friends in high places that help me put the decorations together.
There is a patio on the front of our home which lends itself to being “decorated”. Along with the chalkboard, we added a large milk pitcher filled with sunflowers, a primitive egg crate, and a rooster weathervane in the center of the fern.
My friend had a red rooster tray to add to the geranium wreath on the front door.
On the entry buffet sat a white ceramic hen tureen. Pardon this picture. I did not take a picture of the tray filled with cups and the pitcher of orange juice. Please use your imagination.
On the breakfast table, the galvanized tray was filled with more chickens, the kitchen scale (from the thrift shop), a wire egg basket (the red bowl inside the basket held nuts for snacking) , and an apothecary jar with limes. Simple. – I liked it.
Another colorful rooster ruled over the breakfast hutch. (I am so thankful for good friends who loan me their treasures.)
In the dining room, Mr. Rooster – who started this “theme” – ruled the roost. He was joined by dressier black floral vases topped with balls of greenery. I loved the somewhat primitive pieces sharing space with pretty things. Food was served “family style” at the table. The serving dishes added to the decor – Zucchini and Sausage Frittata was baked in an iron skillet, and a yellow ware bowl was filled with fresh fruit.
A primitive sifter held croissants, and an oval baking dish in an iron stand held the Perini Ranch Green Chili Hominy. (I will share the recipe in another post.)
The table settings consisted of rooster plates atop toile chargers. Red and white dish towels were used as napkins.
This post mainly covers the before of the party. I am looking forward to sharing more about this gathering and the delightful ladies that I met.
Blessings to you and yours,
