Somebody told me about Angela’s at the Crosswalk. They couldn’t even remember the name, but they remembered that the pies at a restaurant in downtown Plano were delicious. Since we have been on a pie circuit, we hunted out this fine establishment.
Downtown Plano is happening, and we sometimes find ourselves headed north on Central Expressway (US75) for food. In the past, there have been blogs about Jorg’s and most recently Lockhart Smokehouse. We also like Upper Crust, and I thought I had told you about it, but… I will. We found Angela’s at the Crosswalk – at the crosswalk on 15th Street.
(To me) Angela’s appears to have somewhat of an identity problem. Do not get me wrong. I totally get it, because I tend to be eclectic. “Comfort Food and Great Spirits” is what the sign on the window says. Above the door, the sign reads, “A Finer Diner and Bar.” Without even a swish of a wand, Angela’s could easily be a tea room.
The decor was somewhat quaint and charming with patches of exposed brick and pretty painted walls.
The salads and sandwiches I saw coming out of the kitchen looked divine, and they have mouthwatering, made from scratch bakery items that fill cases.
Then there is the bar with the overhead big screen TVs. Since I am not much of a drinker, it was difficult for me to understand this, but I am sure it has followers.
Added to this mix is Henry’s Ice Cream. This is excellent award-winning ice cream, and I am sure some of the pie choices benefit from a scoop of Henry’s. (Do not ask me why a dolly is at the front of the restaurant, because I have no idea.)
Ever-Lovin’ ordered quiche. (Yes, real men do eat quiche.) The warm, tasty quiche with a tender crust was served with fruit.
He also ordered a cup of vegetable soup. This was disappointing. The cauliflower flavor was overpowering, and the soup was bitter.
We were basically having brunch, so I ordered a Belgium waffle to share. Yummy! The waffle was light and crispy and served with strawberries and whipped cream. My, oh my – What is not to love? A lady at another table had the chicken and waffle, and it looked fantastic.
We came to test the pie, so we did. This is the coconut cream, and it was delicious. I liked it. I loved it. Ever-Lovin’ particularly liked it because it had a cream topping rather than meringue.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (When do these people rest?)
I so want to return to Angela’s at the Crosswalk to try a salad. (Okay, maybe we could also get another piece of pie.)
Blessings to you and yours,
Wish I could remember who told me about Angela’s at the Crosswalk. If you are that person, thank you!
