Situated at the far end of Snyder Plaza near Southern Methodist University is a Dallas institution – Kuby’s Sausage House. Ever-Lovin’ and I have been coming to Kuby’s for over 40 years. To be honest, neither one of us could believe that I had not blogged about this authentic German market, deli and restaurant
On this particular day we went early for breakfast. Kuby’s is often listed on “Best Breakfast in Dallas” lists, and I understand why.
Even the decor inside the restaurant reminds us of Germany.
We decided to order a Cherry strudel. Sweet Mother of Pearl – what a treat. For $4.95 you get this huge delicious pastry. We love the strudels at Kuby’s and have even been known to give them as little Christmas presents. Now, it is big, and we brought a lot of it home for treats on another days.
Plenty of filling make the strudel extra tasty.
I guess you could say I was going for a Continental Breakfast – strudel, fruit…
And grilled sausage. Delish! (Beware of the horseradish sauce.)
Ever-Lovin’ ordered the Build Your Own Omelet that is made with three eggs, Swiss and cheddar cheeses, and three additional ingredients. It is huge, fluffy, and very tasty. The country potatoes are well seasoned. They are crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside – just the way they should be. I must tell you that we probably did a disservice to the Lanabird blog because we did not order Kasseler Rippchen – two smoked pork chops with two eggs and country potatoes. It is the stuff of legends.
For your information, here is the breakfast menu. For lunch and dinner, wurst platters rule.
With full tummies, we packed up our leftovers, and headed to the deli and market.
In the authentic German meat market, you will find some of the best looking meat in Dallas.
Cases are filled with a wide variety of homemade sausages and cold cuts.
The market has imported cheeses.
Their pimento cheese is my favorite. Really! It is a liftle chunky but still spreads easily. I love it!
There are jars of pickles and other canned goods that bear the Kuby’s label.
I have never seen so many different types of mustards. If you want a gourmet mustard, Kuby’s probably has it. Many of the mustards are imported from Germany.
I have said it before, but I think breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and breakfast at Kuby’s is a fantastic way to begin the day.
Blessings to you and yours,
