Carmen’s niece Melanie gave Carmen a birthday party! Sweet Mother of Pearl! What a nice thing to do. I liked it. I loved it. Going to birthday parties for adults is major fun – meeting new people, eating good food, and enjoying lots of laughter. I am now crusading for more birthday parties for my friends.
The glitzy wreath on the front door was perfect for a party for Carmen. Carmen loves glitz and glam.
As we entered Melanie’s home, we were impressed with her son’s Lego display. Wow! Very cool!
The table was decorated with a zebra heart pillow that was hanging from the chandelier and zebra print flowers in red vases. This set the mood for the day – no stolid ladies party here.
The brunch menu included mini-muffins, mini-quiches, pinwheels, pizza bites and fresh fruit. The egg casserole was deliciously different in that it contained corn. Wish I had the recipe.
For the birthday cake, Melanie’s husband made a Lemon Lime Pound Cake that was as delicious as it was pretty Everyone agreed that Melanie’s husband is an excellent cook. As Carmen’s sister Judy (Melanie’s mother) said, “He is wonderful cook, and he isn’t afraid to try new things.” I am so glad he tried this new recipe from Southern Living. Yummy! I will share more about this fantastic cake in another post.
As co-workers, neighbors, and church friends shared stories about our lives with Carmen, we laughed and laughed. Carmen is so funny and quick witted. When Carmen is near, there is always laughter.
Carmen’s sisters certainly had stories to share – but I guess what is said at a party needs to stay at the party.
Cards and gifts finished off the morning and provided more laughter.
We hated for this gathering to end. Carmen is well loved and respected, and her friends enjoyed honoring her on her ??? birthday. (Carmen doesn’t tell, and that is okay! )
Blessings, to you and yours,
So glad Carmen is my friend.
May you also have good friends and good times filled with laughter.
Birthday parties for friends are a good thing – try it. I think you will like it.
