While digging through my little pocketbook looking for heavens knows what, Ever-Lovin’ exclaimed, “You still have a library card.”  That I do, and then says I to myself, “Why don’t I ever use my library card?”  Just that week I had been to Barns and Nobel looking for a recommend book, and when I found it, I hesitated to pay almost $20.00 for it.  I left without that book.  (I thought I would try Half-Priced Books.)  But then says I to myself, “Borrowing the book might even be better – $00.00 vs. $ 20.00 or even $10.00.”  I did the math and decided it was time for me to check-out (cute, right?) the library.

Have library card will travel.

It had been such a long time since I had been in the library that I had no idea where to go.  So I wondered around and found lots of interesting choices.

library1

Fiction books are on the second floor. There is a selection of Large Print books.  That would not be a bad thing, so I looked and would you believe?  The book my cousin recommended was in this area.

Cousin LaNell and her daughter Laurie highly recommend the Philippa Gregory novels.  Philippa Gregory wrote “The Other Boleyn Girl” and other historical novels.  I am looking forward to reading this.  How do I say this?  The large print is a little too large for my needs at this point, but how nice that large print books are available.  They are complete editions.

Also at the library are computers for people to use.  I think many people search for jobs on these computers.  They are also available to use for research.

library3

So many choices are at the library.  How interesting that they have a humongous collection of paperbacks available to be borrowed.  I think many people prefer paperback books since they are easy to transport and are not so heavy.

I was amazed at the foreign language books available.  There was an entire area the size of a large room with books in many different languages.

library8

There were shelves and shelves of DVDs.  Friends have been telling us how wonderful it is to borrow movies from the library.  Just like all the books in the library, these DVDs are free to borrow.  You can also check-out CDs.  I did not know that.

library4

Sweet Mother of Pearl – it is not Clifford The Big Red Dog, but this green dog is huge.  This was looking down into the children’s section of the library on the first floor.  The library has so many activities for children.

library7

Be still my heart. The library offers local artists the chance to display and sell their art.  library6

This is a good thing.  So many artist are represented in this exhibit, and all of the art is for sale.  The library offers so many activities throughout the year – book club meetings, story times, teas, author visits and much much more.

Eventually I found my way up on the third floor in the non-fiction books.  This was part of the decorating section.  I chose three to read.

Crafts of Provence by Amelia Saint George – what ever made me choose this book?  Super Sister does crafts – not me.  Still the pictures are okay.

French Country at Home by Kathy Passero has some wonderful pictures of rooms that seamlessly combine country objects with beautiful elegant pieces of art.  I love looking at these pictures.

I am enjoying this book – Charlotte Moss Decorates –  that highlights the decorating style of Charlotte Moss.  wouldn’t it be nice to learn “The Art of Creating Elegant and Inspired Rooms.”

Spending a few minutes or a few hours at the library is highly recommended.  I came home with good reads, and it didn’t cost even one shiny dime.  You can’t beat that.

Blessings to you and yours,
