Hot Rod entered sixth grade this year. Sweet Mother of Pearl – Where did the time go? There are mixed feelings I can not put into words. I miss the little boy, but enjoy the maturing young lad. Do you understand? It is complicated.
Did I get his picture on the first day of school? No. Bad on my part.
But… Today I did get pictures. It is so exciting. Hot Rod came in after school with a cello. He had his first orchestra class today, and they passed out instruments. Be still my heart. He brought home a cello. (I was too excited to straighten the clutter on the table between the chairs and elsewhere. – Please ignore.)
It is a shiny student cello just his size.
The case may be heavier than the cello. Good protection I guess.
Immediately he tried to adjust the stand. He was so careful.
Then he pretended to play his new cello. I loved how he imagined making beautiful music. He didn’t use his new bow because he didn’t want to do anything wrong.
Well, I think this is the most excitement we have had in this house in a long long time. Hot Rod is excited, and we are excited for him.
Twice this year when Jorene invited me to the Ft. Worth Symphony rehearsals we have heard cellist. What they played was amazing.
At the beginning of this journey, I pray that Hot Rod will enjoy being in the orchestra, that he will apply himself to learning to play the cello, and that he will find a sense of belonging in the orchestra.
Blessings to you and yours,
