“I can not believe it has been fifty years.” ” I can not believe it has been fifty years.” “I can not believe it has been fifty years.”….
Over and over and over – This was the sentiment expressed during the Reunion of the Andrews High School Class of 1963.
We do not feel “that old” – although some of us have had a few more hard knocks than others – still we feel forever young.
You realize. I have not seen many of these people for fifty years, and true to Murphy’s Law – “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” – I had the most humongous fever blister scab on my bottom lip that I have ever had in fifty years in my entire life. It is gross, and utterly horrible. What does one do? I went and had a wonderful time, but….
Disclaimer: I was having so much fun visiting that I did not get a bazillion pictures. These pictures will give you a “flavor” of our good time together.
Betty and Betty are two of my dearest childhood friends. Betty on the left came all the way from Tennessee for the party. I do not remember not knowing Betty on the right. It was wonderful for us to be together again.
We so appreciate former faculty members coming to the reunion. So glad to see you again Mr. Scott.
Coach Goldsmith told me he blamed Mr. Scott for his moving into a senior living apartment. Then he exclaimed, “It was the best thing I ever did.” Glad it is working, and he is happy.
Mr. Conner was my mother’s principal. They were great friends, and it is always good to see him.
If I understood it correctly, Miss Tinsley just recently retired. I was her office aid my senior year.
Annette and Howard – newlyweds.
Sweet Mother of Pearl. I do love to hear Eddie play the piano.
Mary Ann and Suzanne were having the best time. Suzanne worked so hard on the reunion (with help from her friends), and I do appreciate her (and their) hard work. The reunion was great. Mary Ann is the same weight she was in high school. I will not say more, but…
Singing the school song. “High on the plains there’s a school so grand. Sure you know Andrews High is its name.
And there’s no greater in all the land. Far and wide you can hear its fame. ….Yes!
Robert had also worked many hours in preparation for the reunion. He made a 190+ page memory book that is beyond wonderful, and he also made a video of our “Then and Now” pictures. He was fondly remembered and missed.
It was great fun looking at old photographs and trying to identify people.
The first night we were polite and asked and answered general questions, but by Saturday, we were having conversation, and hearing life stories. It did not take long to reconnect.
There were plenty of hugs for Betty. I know it was hard for her without Robert, but it was also good.
Here is the group. Be still my heart. I was amazed. Most of these people look fantastic, and they are living full active lives. Several have moved to retirement villages, and are having a blast. I am proud to know them.
We are looking forward to many more good times together. I hear tell that a 70th birthday party might be in the works. Sounds like great fun.
It is hard to believe, but thirty of our classmates have died. Other people did not come for various reasons. We missed them, and they missed a good time. After all these years, it is fun to reconnect and relive memories from long ago.
Blessings to you and yours,
I missed getting so many pictures. For that I am truly sorry. Honestly, some of the people I visited with the most are the people I missed taking their picture. We will just have to get together again, and I will do better.
