Shopping at thrift stores and consignment shops could be considered one of my hobbies. The hunt is entertainment, and the fact that quality merchandise can be found for bargain prices makes it even better.
Susan is a woman after my own heart. At one time she was the owner of an antique store, and she also loves the hunt. When she and Johnny came for Robert’s memorial service, we spent the next day shopping thrift stores. We had so much fun – mainly because we found good “stuff”.
I always thought it funny. Once Robert asked me what a thrift store was. I told him it was like a Goodwill store, but bad. He quipped – “Oh, then it is a Badwill store.” From that day on, we have called all thrift stores “Badwill” stores.
Here are some of my finds for the day. I love this little Winnie the Pooh print. Perhaps it will go in a baby’s room.
Can you believe I found two pieces of vintage Royal Commemoratives? I think the tray is from Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip’s wedding. Sad to think about Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
I am wondering if someone donated many of their English collectibles. This is a piece of Carltonware from England. Love the vibrant colors.
Be still my heart. I do love the Laura Ashley blue and white chintz milk pitcher. Isn’t it purdy? I can’t wait to use it.
The silver horse cup has already found a home on the shelf in the den. I like it. I love it.
There were other prizes – a vintage print of the Good Shepherd, and a creamware pitcher that matches my dishes. Susan’s goodies were packed, and I did not get pictures of her prizes. Sorry. If I remember correctly, she got a set of vintage dishes, some little bowls, decorative plates, and clothes for her little ones. We both had a good day.
Thrift City in Richardson, and The Family Place in Dallas were the two thrift shops we visited. We also shopped other discount stores (Tuesday Morning, Home Goods), and The North Dallas Antique Mall that day. We literally shopped till we dropped.
If any of you ever want to go Badwill hunting, I am more than willing.
Blessings to you and yours,
Thank you Susan for a wonderful day. Just remember, there are so many more places to shop in Dallas. Do come back.
