LONDON

I am going to move along faster.  I will have other things to blog about, but at this time I am still so taken with our trip to England.

Here are a few of my other favorites in London.

The Eye:

Before we left for England, Ann made me promise to ride The Eye.  I kept my promise, and am I glad I did.  I liked it.  I loved it.  Thank you Ann.

You walk on while The Eye is moving because it never stops.  It is easy to do.  One rotation takes about thirty minutes.

Ever-Lovin’ and the view from above.  Be still my heart!

It was a grey rainy day, but we could still see these landmarks along the River Thames – House of Parliament , Big Ben, Westminster Abbey.  Did you know that the bell inside the tower is Big Ben.  It was made by the same foundry as the Liberty Bell, and it is also cracked.

Oh, my.  Look at this view of the capsule above us.  I loved taking this picture.

Harrods:

Another highly recommended stop was Harrods.  Be sure to go to the Food Hall my friends insisted.

Sweet Mother of Pearl.  I have never seen anything like this.  There is a complete grocery store inside this department store, and it is like Central Market on steroids.  All of the items for sale appeared to be of the finest quality.

Take home dinner choices are preparod by Harrods chefs.

DSC_0837

This is the meat market.  They also have a fish market, and other meats.

DSC_0838

Cartons of eggs are sold along with many many types of cheeses and cold cuts.  All of this is inside a high end department store.

Then there are the chocolates.  I could live here.

DSC_0858

The Tea & Coffee – Chocolates $ Confectionery room was nice – real nice.  My brain was on overload.

In another area, there was a bakery.

We decided to have lunch at Harrods.  At the time, we did not realize that there are 28 restaurants in Harrods.  Yes, that is correct.  We were told that there are TWENTY-EIGHT restaurants in Harrods.  If I had known, maybe we would have shopped around, but we were more than pleased with our choice.  I had tea.

For the savories, they served finger sandwiches of – cucumber, smoked salmon, roast beef, fruit filling, and a small lobster roll.

DSC_0852

I wanted to remember this little lobster roll.  You could also fill a roll like this with pimento cheese.  I want to do this.

DSC_0849

This was a little French restaurant, and they served madeleines instead of scones.  Delicious!

The sweets were a Napoleon, a raspberry macaroon (my favorite), a chocolate bar, and a sponge cake.  I want to go back.

DSC_0851

Ever-Lovin’ had a chicken soup with the most delicious rich broth.

DSC_0856

His entree was the special of the day that was highly recommended by the cute waitress – Duck Confit.  This was really a treat.

But there was so much more than the Food Hall.  There was no way we could see everything.  Expensive purses are sold in the Egyptian Room – and people were buying them.  I loved being in such an amazing store.

Covent Gardens:

While on the tour, our guide Andrew mentioned that whenever guest come to London, he likes to take them to Covent Gardens.  We decided to see what he was talking about. Sweet Mother of Pearl.   It is so much fun.  There is an open air market, shops along the quadrangle, and street entertainers.  We did appreciate the suggestion.

The Apple Market is where hand-made items are sold.

DSC_1691

We ate at Jamie Oliver’s Union Jack Restaurant.

DSC_1693

Ever-Lovin’s choice of potato soup with crusty bread was good.  It had something else besides potatoes in it, but I forgot.  Maybe it was broccoli.

DSC_1692

He also got the roast beef salad.  It was so pretty and great tasting.

DSC_1694

The fish fingers were on the appetizer menu.  This is some of the best fish I had in England.

DSC_1704

How fun is this –  Street entertainers.  This man is juggling hammers while standing on the other men’s arms.  It was a little scary, but he was funny.

DSC_1706

This man was a comedian that did a little magic.  Andrew was right.  Covent Gardens is a great place to visit and people watch.

The people of London are fantastic.  They are polite and helpful.  If they see you trying to figure out which way to go on the  Tube, they do not hesitate to help.

Blessings to you and yours,

My bad yesterday.  Of course I know that Prince William married Catherine Middleton.  Sorry!
